    Modeling Chevrolet Camaro SS 2010 -3ds Studio Max



    1. First lets make a plane on the top view and the position it a little bit upper :

    2. Ok,convert the plane in to a Editable Poly and position that plane in the right place :

    3. Now lets make the plane to fit the blueprints :



    4. Connect the orizontal edges with 3 segments and the Pinch set at “24” :

    5. I will post other pictures with the modeling :


    Set the all vertex at “ 0 “ :




    6. Select all the edge’s in the top view like me,select the “Scale Tool”(R on the keyboard) hold down Shift and on the middle of X and Y drag the edges out :

    Now the place the vertex on their right place on the top view,front and right :



    7. Connect this edges like in the picture :


    Now put this vertex in the right place :

    8. Select the same edges like me ,hold down shift and drag them out and position the vertex in the right place :



    In the front view do the same as me :


    9. Let’s start making the front of the car,follow the images :


    You should have this for a final result :

    10. Ok,select the edges like in the image and drag them to the left,go into vertex mode and put the vertex at “0” :

    11. Select in the front view the same edges ,trag them down and position them right in the left and top view :




    Now,position the vertex in the right place :

    12. Lets make the gap for the hood,right click and select the “Cut” tool and use is to make a the conture for the slot :


    13. Enter Polygon mode and select the same polygons like me and press Delete on the keyboard,we don’t need them :


    Make sure the vertex in the top view are in they’re place :


    14. In the top view use “Edge” Tool to select the same edges.After you have selected them drag down on the “Y” axis :


    You should have this result :

    15. In the front view select this edges and do the same thing like in the step 14 :

    16. Select this edge in the Perspective view,drag it down:



    Ok,now move this vertex to the left :

    17. In the front view we can’t see the other 2 vertex,so we selec and put them in the right position :



    18. Lets start modeling ,select this edge and drag it down 2 times :

    19. If we look in the top and left view we will see that the vertex aren’t in they’re right position .Let’s put them in the right position :



    20. In the front view lets start modeling and then go on the side and top view to position the vertex :

    21. Now in the front and side view lets position the vertex :




    22. Continue this step untill you have finish what we started,check the pictures :

    23. Select the same edges like in the pictures and drag them back like in step 14 :


    You should have a result like this :

    24. Select the vertex like me and drag them back and up,watch the pictures :


    Now drag them up :


    We will make the gril and the headlights a little bit later.
    25. Select the edges like me and drag them down :


    Now position the vertex at they’re right place :

    26. Now we will make the fan at the bottom…Select the same edges like me and drag them down…follow the images :


    Drag them back a little :

    Position the vertex in the right place :

    27. Follow the images:







    28.No we will start to make the left side,you will see why I don’t go down right now .Follow the images :






    29. At this point we will start to make the down bar , look at the images and you will understand why :





    30. Now lets connect some edges ,select the same ones like me :

    31. Select the “Cut Tool” and make the same as me and then enter “Polygon Mode” and select the same polygond like me :


    Now,press delete button,select the edges like in the picture and drag them back :


    32. The vertex wich resulted from the back draw are not in they’re place,follow the images :


    33.Lets continue,select the same edges like me and drag them to the right,look at the images :






    34. We will start to make the fender,follow the images :





    35. Now lets put the vertex in place :

    36. I had tought and we need to make a little modification :

    Go to “Vertex mode” and remove the same vertex .Do NOT delete them because you will delete the polygon :




    37. We have a vertex wich is not connected,lets resolve this problem :




    38. Continue :






    39. Lets complete the fender :




    40. Look at the image first :

    Ok,as you can see those polygons are a little bit like a sheet of paper.We will need to move some vertex so that the body will be like the original :


    In the next picture I will show you wich vertex will need to be moved a little bit to the right(move them how do you think it would look more aesthetic):

    Now it has a nice form :

    41. If you look from the top view you will see that the vertex are a little bit out :

    Ok,lets move them in :



    42. Look the next image :

    That slot shouldn’t be there,for that I have a simple solution,we will connect the following edges :

    Then move the vertex in place :

    43. Ok,now select the same edges like me and drag them like in the picture :





    44. In this step I want you to be realy attentive,look at the picture :

    I have made on the actual blueprint some circles to difine the limit of some vertex,now look at the second image :


    As you can see the image is not so high quality,in this situation,or in another one,you have to think and look very attentive at the original blueprint or picture to determine where to put the vertex :



    45.We have resolved this issue,lets continue :

    46. A realy hard part has been finished,moving on :

    We have to make a modification,look at the image :

    Those vertex are out a little bit,lets move them to the right,but not to much :

    Now we have to move the other vertex out,look at the image :


    47. Going down with the modeling :



    Select all the vertex like me and drag them to the right :


    48. Since a Chevy Camaro doesn’t have a sharp conture down we will add so edges so we can refine de sharpness :

    Select the same edges like and then connect them :


    Move the vertex like me a little bit to the right.If you don’t think it looks very aesthetical move the vertex untill you are satisfied :


    49.Continue with the modeling :



    Ok,now use “Cut Tool” so we can connect that vertex to the edge :


    50. We have to come from the hood to the point were we are right now :

    51. The hard part is finished,lets go to more hard parts . I think I will start making the roof ,and that’s what I am going to do :





    52. Change in one of the viewports the view,change it to “Front” . I know,you will wonder why front and not back,because we are at the back…and I will tell you that I had always made this thing with the blueprints,put the front on the back,and the back in the front . Change the view to make sure that the vertex are all in the right place :

    Yes,its in the right place for me,make sure that vertex is in the right position ,don’t budder asking for the other polygons,they are in the same place too!
    53. Ok,lets continue .Please pay attention to the pictures,we don’t want to make a bad model and always check the front,rear,up and back view :






    54. At this point we will continue to make the upper frame then we will continue to go down :






    55. Ok,now lets make that lower part on the roof and continue to extend the edges untill its to “0” :

    56. Lets start modeling the middle-front so we can finish with it :





    57. At this point we will need to make some cuts… but first lets complete a hood part :





    Look at the image and make sure that the 2 last vertex are to “0” :


    58. Right click and choose “Cut” and make the cuts like me and then we will use “Target Weld “ to weld the vertex togheter :




    59. Lets continue the back :





    60. Ok,now we will use “Cut “ again and then we will connect some edges :

    61. Let’s continue at the fender :






    62. We need to finish the fender the we will move on the back . Select the Scale tool and then drag inside the same edges like me :



    63. Moving on to the back :




    64. Ok,now pay attention, in this next step we will make a single polygon and then detach it… We had advanced very much and if we make from the same part the whole car,in the back will be a problem.When we click and drag to select some vertex,they will be selected,but also the vertex in the front and then will brake apart the whole mesh . Follow the images :


    Ok,now click on the car and hide it :

    Now we have this single polygon wich we will use to make the rest of the car :

    65. Let’s start the back :

    Selec the polygons like me and delete them :


    68 : Use “Edge” and select the gap and drag it a little bit to the back :


    Now put the vertex in the right place :


    Let’s fill up the hole :
